Wil Myers, Jake Odorizzi, Mike Montgomery interviews from Rays Winter Development Program
First impressions are important everywhere, whether it’s family, friends, a new job. The same is true in baseball, and this week, the four players acquired from the Royals organization in the James Shields/Wade Davis trade are at Tropicana Field, making first impressions with the Rays player development staff and front office, local media and potential teammates.
Wil Myers, Jake Odorizzi, Mike Montgomery and Patrick Leonard are among the 31 players participating in the Rays 2013 Winter Development Program. Of the 27 drafted by the Rays that are participating in this week’s camp (the other four are international signees), 14 are former first-round draft picks. It’s a group that Andrew Friedman calls the most talented for this type of event the Rays have ever had.
I had a chance to get first impressions of Myers, Ororizzi and Montgomery during the camp’s media opportunity. Here are one-on-one interviews with each, giving you a chance to gain your first impressions of the trio before Spring Training begins on February 12th

Love seeing the new Rays and anxious to see them perform this Spring. Exciting times. Good job by Neil easing them into the Rays interview process.
