Postgame Report – March 11th
The Rays fell 6-4 in 10 to the Twins on Monday night. Roberto Hernandez started and threw four innings, giving up five hits and three runs, two earned. Joe Maddon felt Hernandez was better than the numbers, and felt the defense could have been better behind him. Here are Maddon’s other observations from the game:
Jamey Wright, Jake McGee, Joel Peralta and Kyle Farnsworth each threw a scoreless inning. McGee hit 95 on the gun, and Peralta was back around his normal 90 miles per hour.
Offensively, Luke Scott returned to the lineup and went 2-for-3 with a double to left-center and a homer to right. Evan Longoria hit doubles to left and right to drive in a pair of runs, and Desmond Jennings doubled and walked in three plate appearances.
Scott was pleased in his return:
The Rays host the Yankees on Tuesday at 1:05 with Alex Cobb on the mound.
After the game, position players Nick Weglarz, Mark Thomas and Shawn O’Malley were reassigned to minor league camp, reducing the number on big league camp to 51.
Tomorrow’s game can be heard on RaysBaseball.com starting at 1 pm.
